Angela, Plumcroft Shadowers
The Wolves of Currumpaw
A beautiful, stark and sad story about the plight of our hero, Old Lobo.
The red illustrations at the beginning of the book soon turn into blues and browns reflecting the loneliness of both wolf and landscape. The plains are very well realised accentuating the sense of space and sky and sometimes desolation. Wolf as hero or villain? Lobo's right to his habitat is the movingly strong theme towards the end of the book. A great slice of American history, loved it .
