Salt to the Sea
A quick overview:
The book salt to the sea follows the story of 4 main characters. Emilia a young Polish girl, Joana a Latvian girl, Florian a Prussian spy and Alfred a German sailor.
In my opinion the story is one of the best story's I have read in a while. The book, even though changing between the four peoples points of view, is surprisingly easy to follow and emotively connect to the characters, if anything, it is easier to connect with the characters. Other characters in the story besides the main four characters are also very believable and easy to build a connection with, two of which are the shoe poet and Klaus.
The plot is easy to follow as it is of historical fact, which the author has done very well, aside from this the story grips you right from the beginning. With small chapters and a great use of language you cannot put the book down.
There are not many things that I can say that are wrong with the book, but one thing that was a little bit annoying was the character Alfred. I just couldn't connect with him, his imaginary letters are very odd and a little bit time consuming to read when you could getting more engrossed into the book, as well as this his character was very, very odd.
Apart from those small things I thought that the book was a 10 out of 10 and a great read and would recommend to anyone who loved a real good book.
