Sail, Sacred Heart Shadowers

After the Fire

I thought that this was a very interesting book which will interest many. It is a dystopian-style book, although it is not actually set in the future. It follows the story of Moonbeam, a teenager who has just experienced a traumatic event, which becomes known as "the Fire". Personally, I really liked the way this book is laid out, with chapters from before and after the fire, which allow you to place the story together yourself. After the fire is a book which gives the reader a lot to think about, such as how we actually tell the difference between right and wrong when there is no one to tell us, and whether trusting people is always the right thing to do. I did think, however, that some characters could have been allowed to develop more and that their personalities could have been explored more. All in all, I would rate After the Fire 7 out of 10.
