Sputnik's Guide to Life on Earth
Sputnik's guide to life on earth is about a boy called Prez, who is orphaned and stayes at a farm for the summer, with the Blythes, where he meets the alien boy Sputnik. On his arrival, Sputnik is noticed by the rest of the family as a different breed of dog per family member. Sputnik's inspiration for blending in was becoming the apparent dominant species according to Laika, the first dog in space. He has arrived to tell Prez that he must find 10 amazing things about planet earth to stop it from being shrunk by planet clearance. The plot follows their quest to complete Sputnik's guide to life on earth which had some interesting twists and turns.
Prez also has a quest of his own trying to find his Grandpa who he looked after for so many years but had dementia and was arrested for a misunderstanding.
I was surprised at how much I genuinley enjoyed this book. At first I thought it was going to be a bit young for me and not a very enriching read, but the story really did pull me in and was easy to get into. I didn't overly like the ending, because I felt there wasn't much redemption for what everyone had done throughout the story to complete the book.
Overall I thought the book was really good apart from the ending and aimed for younger readers but that doesn't mean any age can't read it and enjoy it!
