The Stars at Oktober Bend

The Stars of Oktober Bend, by Glenda Millard, is about 2 characters: Alice nightingale and Manny James. they see each other one night in mysterious circumstances. James pulls out a poem from his pocket which he thinks is written by this girl. This girl is no normal girl because something inside is broken. This story is certainly very powerful because of the emotions felt by the characters; sadness and happiness at different points in the book where appropriate. I really like the design of the front cover because the colour scheme is very dark but the star sheds some hope into it. The ripple is really cool because it's very unusual to be that life-like on a book. In this book I have noticed some swearing throughout. This can be bad because it sometimes doesn't add anything to the text. In this case i think it is appropriate because this sort of language can tell the reader the sort of personality they have. I would recommend this book to 12 and over because of the infrequent strong language and the fact that this book is full of difficult words for younger people. I would rate this book 10 out of 10 because of the above and the fact that it can get quite mysterious which is what I like in a book. Great book!
