Salt to the Sea

Salt to the Sea was a good book about the war between Russia and Germany (in WW2). The book showed the problems both sides had to face and the people who lived in the country being invaded. This book used a range of good characters such as Alfred and Florian. Each character had a unique personality and I liked the way they all linked together half way through.

However, I didn't like the ending because it was too much like the film Titanic. There are many similarites between the ending and the book. It made me feel like the author was just copying the Titanic and not trying to make it there own. I felt that there were slight differences to avoid copyright.

The book itself also kept the reader hooked in. This was useful since if you got bored of one part the next chapter could be more interesting. I also liked the fact the chapters were short and let us see each of the characters stories often. I also like the friendship you can see between Joana, her group, Florian and Emilia.
