Alfie, Reading Realm

The Bone Sparrow

This book is set in a refugee camp around 3 years ago during the Australian refugee crisis. This book focused on hope and how important it is to hold on to any hope you have. This book shows how much humans can torture people for fleeing war and conflict. The characters in this book are explored in a deep way. The author must have spent a while researching the journeys families take over the years. I enjoyed this book even though it had some strong language and content. It made me realise how stupid we can be when acting with our own people. Overall I thought this book was engaging and I definitely think it should win the Carnegie award this year. I rate this book 7/10
