Beyond the Bright Sea

"Beyond the Bright Sea" is a beautiful, heart-warming story about the importance of family. It includes some mystery aspects, and allows the reader to delve into the story of Crow, a 12 year old girl who washed up on the shore of the Elizabeths at just a few hours old. This story makes sense, and has basis in fact, being that most of the islands that the story is set in are real. There are just a few things that could be improved: it is almost fully narrative, meaning that there is not enough description of the characters' appearances and their setting, so you cannot quite picture the book in your head; their personalities are well developed though. Also, the storyline is quite predictable, but other than that, this book is almost flawless.
