After the Fire
After the fire is a story about Moonbeam, who lives in a very closed community where Father John controls everything and everyone. She has grown up to believe that everyone Outside is cruel and always wants to hurt you. But Moonbeam is starting to see the lies Father John is telling and she wants him to be found out. I enjoyed reading every second of this book. It is so interesting and also shockingly tragic to hear about Moonbeam and her Brother’s and Sister’s lives.
The characters’ emotions, dialogue and actions were described very well by their reactions and responses to one another and I feel like I really got to know the characters. It was really interesting how the characters coped differently with the traumatic life they’ve been through.
I loved how the book was written and the way in which the plot was revealed. It jumped around from past to present and the more Moonbeam talks about the past the more you understand about why things happened and I think it’s a really clever way to write the book and this made it unputdownable.
After the fire is one of the best books I have ever read and I would definitely recommend it. I would give it a 10/10!
