The Hate U Give

The Hate U Give is about a girl named Satrr who lives in a black dominated neighbourhood with her family. The story is mainly about Starr trying to get justice for her best friend who got shot by a police man that isn’t getting charged for the murder. I thought the book was very good because of how relatable the characters are. I think it was very well written and very believable. I liked how the author made connections with the characters which made you feel sad or happy when something happened. I thought The Hate U Give has a very strong storyline and it was a reasonably easy read, although it was a fast moving story with a lot of violence, which I didn’t mind but some people might. The author managed to address racism, lives of disadvantaged people, drugs, gangs and most importantly friendship and family as well as telling a really enjoyable and engaging story. I would definitely recommend it and read it again.
