George, Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School

King of the Sky

I think King of the Sky (Re Del El Cielo) has a really good style, with lots of chalk and charcoal being used in the illustrations, giving the pigeon images a more realistic feel. The stick-like characters (similar to how the artists Lowry works) in the illustrations appear almost semi-realistic while the feathers on the birds are very interesting to the reader. On some of the pages the illustrator uses dull colours to represent the industrial ages, but then brightens up other pages with cheerful country scenes. In my opinion this is a very good book.
