Josie, RIDGEWOOD SCHOOL

Salt to the Sea

I begun this book believing it would be almost too depressing to be enjoyable, yet as I continued to read, I was amazed at the depth of excitement and knowledge within this book. It was tense and sad. I found myself laughing and crying. It is a stunning book. A stunningly true and horrifying book. Before, I have taken for granted the depth of sadness for German refuges during the second world war but this book has opened my eyes to the outside world. I will not deny, that it is frankly quite depressing but within it is beautifully written story I think everyone should read.
