Salt to the Sea

Salt to the Sea is a very emotional retelling of a true story. However, it is told from four different (made up) characters' points of view. These characters are: Emilia - a young Polish lady, Alfred - a German sailor, Joana- a Lithuanian woman and Florian - a mysterious Prussian man. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone from the age of 10 and above. In my opinion, the one thing that Ruta Sepetys could be criticised for is that she doesn't introduce the characters at the the beginning of the story, so the reader would have to be committed to reading this book. Also the ending was quite confusing although overall this book was the best read I've had in a long time.
