Liza, Camden School for Girls

The Bone Sparrow

This is probably my favorite book so far. Both the plot and the fast pace of the book really will grasp any reader of a variety of ages. The book also showcases a lot of emotion, enabling the reader to really relate to all the characters, smiling as the characters go through happy times, and worrying in the difficult situations. By the end of the book, I felt that I had got to know every single character either as a friend or enemy.

I also enjoyed the fact that this was all based on something real and true, and although from the barrier of paper and ink, it seems this is something distant and irrelevant, it really is something to concern every single one of us.

So overall, I really enjoyed this book. From the interesting intertwining of something despairing and terrible to something full of hope and light, to the sympathetic and expressive language, I feel that the author has balanced very well everything I would want from a book.
