The Bone Sparrow

Personally, I thoroughly agree with the message of this book, and would encourage more people to read it as it will help them become more aware of what is going on in the world. In addition to this, it was quite original for the author to put the main plot near the end of the book, which I found quite interesting. The story was relatively engaging as it gave you an insight on how refugee camps are really like, including the character's thoughts and feelings about the camp. I really liked the fact that the story was told through the eyes of Subhi, who never really knew about life outside the camp. It makes the reader feel sorry for him, as he clearly does not have a clue about the outside world. Instead he asks others in the camp to constantly tell him stories in order to feed his imagination and sense of humanity. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the book and would like to read other works of the author. I would give this book a 3/5, due to some confusion with the some of the character reactions in the climax.
