The Bone Sparrow

This book is about the life of a refugee. It is very heart breaking as this is based on a real life situation. There is a refugee called Subhi who has grown up at the immigration detention centre since he was a baby. There is a young girl, Jimmie, who lives in the real world. She finds a way to get into the centre. His mission is to get out of the juvenile place and roam free around the country. Subhi’s best friend, Eli, was taken to Alpha. This was also a detention centre but mainly for men. The two boys rarely see each other and Eli tries to escape and tell Subhi all about his new life. One of the saddest moments in this book is when Eli dies. This was a tragic chapter as he was one of the main characters in the books. I have learnt that life is not easy as we think it is and there are many people suffering in the world. This has taught me that there are less fortunate out there so we need to help them see the good thing about life.
