Eleanor, John Mason School - Abingdon

The Stars at Oktober Bend

The Stars at Oktober Bend by Glenda Millard was quite confusing at first. Although the book was very authentic having Alice not putting capital letters (because she didn't go to school) it sometimes made it very hard to read. On the other hand the plot was very good and once I got into it I couldn't put it down.

The story is about a girl named Alice who lives with her gran and her brother Joey. She spends most of her time writing poems which she pins up all over the place. A boy named Manny finds a poem and looks for the girl who wrote it. When they finally meet bad things start to happen.

I would recommend this book for people who like fiction stories that don't go to far over the non-realistic bounds. In addition I would recommend this book for ages 12-14. I would rate this book 3/5 stars.
