Beyond the Bright Sea

Beyond the Bright Sea is one of the best books I have read in a long time. However reader warning, it does have quite a slow and anti-climatic start but as soon as you get mid-way through the book, captivating things start to happen, so don't put the book down if you find it boring at first. Beyond the Bright Sea is intriguing, from the cover to the 'about the author'. I am so glad I chose this book. The story starts out as a introduction to the characters by explaining the day to day events, but it doesn't really start to tell you about the backstories of the characters until about a quarter of the way through the book. I really liked this though because it allowed the book to never get boring, you always want to find out more. Beyond the Bright Sea follows the story of Crow, a girl who was found as a baby on an island and is taken in by a young man named Osh. Now I can't say much more about this without giving the story away, but by the end of the book you really grow to love the characters and I was sad when I finished the book. But I think the best part of this book is the moral that undertones it, that life isn't about things, or having things, or being rich. It's about being grateful for what you have.
