Beyond the Bright Sea

'Beyond the Bright Sea' was about an islander child called Crow who was tied to a skiff and sent out to sea, and eventually washed up on the island Cuttyhunk, where a quiet man called Osh found her and called her Crow, after the cawing she was doing. The story follows her will to find out where she came from, getting involved in a treasure hunt along the way, which actually is her inheritance from her lost parents. As the story grows, so does she. I believe it is a great story about self-discovery and how important family is. The writing style is extremely good and you could feel the emotion conveyed in the story(like when Crow found out that the sailor was not her brother). A very good story and worthy of being shortlisted overall.
