Rowan, King's School, Macclesfield

This is a fantastic book. “Railhead” is a narrative following one boy’s journey through the galaxy, in a world where you can’t separate truth from lies. It is utterly original, and questions the reader’s opinions about truth and lies, and grips you to the last page.

The plot is logical, and the characters are well developed and relatable. It is an incredibly intricately designed world, and thought through to the last detail. Philip Reeve makes you think, even in a world so unlike our own, about parallels to our world, and about the morals behind stealing, family and love.

It transports you to that place and time, with the vivid descriptions of trains going through K-gates and imagined worlds. All loose ends are tied up at the end, and yet it still piques your curiosity for the sequel. One of the best science fiction novels I have read.
