Jonathan, CoLA Chatterbooks

Salt to the Sea

Firstly, I'd like to just mention that this book has deep relevance to my life and family and that I am extremely exuberant that someone made the victims noticed and not the attention seekers who caused the problem.

What I like about this book is that it is written from four views; a polish girl, a young lithuanian women, a young prussian boy and a german. It shows the life of these four and the secrets they hold. The reason they are mentioned is because they were all aboard the Wilhelm Gustloff and some were refugees. The fact that 10000 people were aboard and 9000 died is enough to make you sad but the fact that within one year, over 25000 people died in the baltic sea.

The reason this book has great relevance to me is because my grandma lived not far from Lwow which is now modern day Ukraine. The girl in this book lived there but had to leave because the russians were coming to attack. My grandma always told me stories about the war and that is why this book holds such great value to me.
Overall I think that this book is one of my favourites hence the reason I give it 5/5 stars.
