Salt to the Sea

Salt to the sea is an amazing book about love and finding who you are. The characters are brilliant and they each show a different side of the terrible war.
Joana is looking for hope and saftey and her mother.
She really helps Emilia and looks after her baby.
DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T READ IT!!!!!!
When they finally find saftey on the ship it is ruined by the sinking of the ship. Alfred is just trying to save himself but Emilia pushes the wandering boy on to the lifeboat instead of her. Her baby ends up living with Hanlika and Kalaus. (Emilias baby and the wandering boy)
But apart from the main characters there are some other characters that make the book even more special.
Like the shoe poet, he is like a grandfather for all of the refugees. Ingrid, who falls through the ice, navigating her world through her ears, probably almost grateful that she doesn't have to see the horrors of war.
I think this is a book everyone should read.
It is my favourite.
