The Smell of Other People's Houses
The Smell of Other People's Houses is set in Alaska in 1970. It is from the perspective of four young people; three girls and a boy.The story covers a range of different issues seen today; alcoholic parents/violence, teenage mothers, divorce, poverty, runaways and mental health.
In the book life in Alaska is shown as a struggle mentally and physically. The four main characters each with very different backstories go through their own difficulties but some how ,through fate, united by the end.
However, in my opinion, the title slightly irrelevant to the story and the events unfold too well that such a fine piece of literature ends too quickly.
I recommend this book since it is unlike anything I have ever read before.
