Mrs W, Calthorpe Park School

Railhead

Set in multiple galaxies, populated by a whole new cast of characters such as 'wire dollies' and Hive Monks, I loved the idea of sentient, artificially intelligent trains. The well-written written prose carried me along in this fast-paced, adventure story and I had no trouble in suspending my disbelief.

I like the book production too, with an engaging cover and I love the acrostic poem on the back! I also like that the title is printed across the edge of the pages

For some reason, Zen Starling as a hero didn't completely win me over and, as result, I wasn't overly worried about what would happen to him. I felt more engaged with Mota Nova and was touched by Zen's rescue of her.

This is a minor criticism, however and I would have no hesitation in recommending this book to students.
