There is a Tribe of Kids
'There is a tribe of kids' is a wonderful book because there are so many different takes on it. You could read it as a simple storybook, but as you investigate further into this book you can see much more meaning hidden beneath the surface. The story is about this little kid trying to find a family but struggling to fit in; as you approach the end of the story the kid finally gets closer to his/her real family: first the constellations, then the children and, finally, his/her actual family. When you pay closer attention to the text you see it is always in the past tense, but the final sentence is in the present tense. On the last page the printed words say "there is a tribe of kids" instead of "there was a tribe of kids" for now the kid actually knows his/her family exists and he/she doesn't think it's all a fantasy.
I also think the art medium is appropriate because it fits with the peacefulness of the story. The words also flow and show great synergy with the illustrations.
