Emily, Queen Elizabeth`s Grammar School

Wolf Hollow

This book is an enthralling journey through the life of Annabelle, the central character in this novel, that is full of imagery and intrigue. However, I think that the best part of this book is the characters, as we can understand what emotions Annabelle is going through and also feel as if we are in her difficult position. The lengthy descriptions of Annabelle and her innermost thoughts makes her a character that the reader can empathise. Also, the mysterious loner Toby also adds to this enchanting book as we witness his development as a character, as well as his relationship with Annabelle.

Despite this, I do think that the book took a long time to build up to the climax of the story, when Betty goes missing. I think that too much of the first half of the book was spent describing Wolf Hollow and Annabelle's way of life there, rather them driving the plot forward.

Overall, I think that this is an excellent book that is interesting for the reader.
