The Stars at Oktober Bend

'The Stars At Oktober Bend' is a story about Alice and Manny. Alice is a fifteen year old girl who has brain injuries, which are the result of an assault, and Manny is a sixteen year old boy who was a child solider; this story is about their love. I loved the way this story was written, it is very different and individual when the story is being told from Alice's point of view. It is very poetic but it is a bit hard to understand at first, as the author really portrayed the fact that Alice had brain injuries through the way that her first person chapters are written. There is not much speech but there is a lot of description of how she is feeling throughout the story and Alice, in her own way, writes poems. Overall it is a very emotional and beautiful story and you will really enjoy it once you get into it. I don't usually read books like this but I felt it was a nice change for me. I give it a 7/10.
