The Bone Sparrow

A heartbreaking story that will surely bring tears to your eyes. Tells a story of a young boy called Subhi and his everyday life as a refugee. Subhi is a member of the Rohingya people of Burma. Born in refugee camp, Subhi has never set foot in the outside world and is fascinated by the ocean. Love surrounds him in the form of a mother, sister and best friend. An extremely touching story that will make you fall in love with the protagonist. Subhi goes through quite a lot while he is in this camp. But eventually meeting Jimmie from the 'outside world' opens his eyes to the future. They become close friends and start meeting late at night to read a book Jimmie's mother had left her. since Jimmie can't read, she imagines while Subhi reads.
The majority of people have no idea that refugee camps even exist, and how foolish we are in thinking that the things we can't see, or don't have knowledge about, don't exist in this world.
I would recommend this book to everyone!
