Jenny, Skinners' Kent Academy Shadowers

The Stars at Oktober Bend

My first thought of this book was this is going to be a really good book...then I started to read it more and wasn't particularly fond of it. I got what the plot line was about but I didn't like the way it was written, this is the main reason that I struggled a lot at the beginning and it took me a very long time to get into the book. Being very particular on grammar and punctuation I didn't like the fact that it didn't have capital letters and mainly only full stops and no other punctuation, even though I understood why the book was written like this due to what was said about Alice's past it still annoyed me but luckily I continued until the end. I found the worst part of this book was the ending because it felt very sudden for me, I also didn't understand why they left Alice and Bear when they got in the boat and she decided she couldn't. Overall I give this book a 6/10 because even though I liked the plot line I didn't like the way it was written or the ending.
