Mrs Young, Carshalton High School for Girls
The Bone Sparrow
An enlightening and revealing read about the possibilities of life in a current day refugee camp. A boy is born inside the camp so knows nothing about life outside the chain fence. One of the guards has a soft spot for him and looks after him as well as he can. One night a young girl from the other side of the fence finds her way in, they become good friends and she visits most nights. Life in the camp is hard and becomes riotous. Is it right that people can be held together in bad conditions just because they were not born in that country? They have fled from dangers in their own homes towns.
