The Stars at Oktober Bend

The Stars at Oktober Bend is probably one of my favourite Carnegie books. It explores the taboo subject in our society of mental health whilst breaking down stigmas and changing your mind about the way you view other people. The main character is called Alice and her love of poetry is one of the main themes in the book. The language is beautiful and everything flows with an intricate ambiguity that makes it so open to interpretation. It gave me a little faith in humanity slowly not just accepting people - but acknowledging that although we may not understand or agree with everything, it doesn't make it wrong.
