After the Fire
Of the books I've read so far this is easily my favouite. I love how it jumps around in time revealing information at strategic points which gives the impression of it actually unfolding around you. You really feel connected to the characters and I found myself feeling sorry for them even if I knew that were bad. The anger I felt towards Father John was very real and the viewpoint of Moonbeam makes it easier to understand why people fall for the lies of cult leaders and we can see he's struggling to escape from them through out the book. The whole book gives a very good insight into the lives of people in cults and I found it very interesting to read as I have never understood how people could believe in something that to outsiders seems so wrong. I really like, as I've said the way information is revealed through out the book by the going back and forth to the fire then to therapy as it keeps the reader engaged for the whole book with us not finding out the whole story until the very end. I really like this book for many reasons and I hope it wins.
