Mrs Dicken, Colton's Keen Readers

Saint Death

This book is electrifying. It seemed to burn a hole in my head, so much so that I woke up at 5am thinking about the significance of the first chapter. The writing was spare but vital and vivid, full of imagery and symbolism. The plot was balanced and subtle particularly the way he foreshadowed the tragedy to come. The analogy of the card game worked beautifully. Though the reader is never in doubt about the political message of the book; the characters feed the emotions as much as the subject feeds the mind. Arturo's story hooked me right from the start and it still hasn't let me go. Does this book deserve to win? Hell, yes!
