Salt to the Sea

Salt to the Sea is an amazing book which captures you from the first page. It is told from the point of view of four people who are in Germany, however they are from many different places. It is a war novel, but it stands out from many others. It sees the Russians as "bad", instead of the Germans, like so many books, even the ones set in Germany. It shows you how life would have been for them and that it wasn't much different. You get to know the characters very well it feels like you have known them personally. The different points of view shows how it could be very different for people even in the same country. It is a very emotional book and at some points you feel like you don't want to read on. But then you do because you HAVE to know what is going to happen. The ending is upsetting but it shows you that things like that actually happened and that the war was a very real and scary thing.
