The Stars at Oktober Bend

This book was a great book, and really cleverly highlighted the intricate and delicate mind of somebody with autism or other serious mental issue. The use of no capital letters highlights the frailty of Alice's thoughts. The book was fully gripping from beginning to the end, and I was enthralled by the plot and the bond between Manny, a refugee from Sierra Leonne, and Alice. Glenda Millard expertly conveyed emotions in challenging topics, such as bullying, autism / mental issues, peer pressure, love, adoption and death.
