, Keep Calm and Carnegie
It was a very pleasant surprise to see this Barrington Stoke book included in the Carnegie shortlist and a commendation should definitely go to the judges for choosing a book which promotes inclusion for reluctant and struggling readers.
Unfortunately though, I found the plot of the story quite lacking. The opening chapter - from the Rock's point of view - was a different and interesting perspective. However, from then on the story was rather predictable and although very touching to see Nicky's brotherly love towards his younger brother I didn't find the story very compelling. I wonder if I had read Brock first I would have got more from this novella..
With regret a 2/5.
