The Hate U Give

I really liked this book, it was the first Carnegie book that I read. It was really eye-catching to me and I picked it up straight away. It is a great story and has an impactful meaning. I felt as though I was walking through the events alongside the main character Starr carter. She is the 16 year old protagonist who lives in a poor black neighbourhood, Garden Heights. The book helps to convey to readers about racism and that it is still not completely abolished. The most emotional part for me was the shooting of her unarmed friend Khalil by a police officer on the way back from a party and the way she tries to clean his name really show true friendship and the fight for justice.
