Jake, Diary of a Thorpe Kid

Night Shift

I liked this book as the variety of dark colours showed the girls emotions and the colours technically matched the girl. I also liked how the evil creatures showed the girls emotions. Another part I liked, was how the images showed the main theme, instead of the words showing the main theme. I didn't really like the short amount of words put into this book, as I wanted to read a lot. I also disliked how the author put 'and then things shifted', then it ended. As I wanted to read on. I would ask the girl, how long did she have depression for? This book reminded me of being unhappy and ill. If I could describe this book in three words, I would describe it as: helpful, depressive and unhappy. The girls' depression feels like fog in the story. I would recommend this book to people who have anxiety, feel sad, lonely, unhappy, depressed, and for people that can't talk about their depression.

I would rate this book 7/10 stars.
