The Smell of Other People's Houses

I think that 'The Smell of Other People's Houses is one of the best books in the carnegie shortlist because it is a very creative, interesting and believable book told through the eyes of Hank, Alice, Dora and Ruth. It is set in 1970, in Alaska and with it's fast-moving plot, it draws you in from the very beginning. My favourite thing about the book is the change that all of the characters undergo throughout the novel. I really liked seeing how different events were told by the four different main characters and how they all had different approaches to their lives; it gave the story a lot of layers which served to make it even more enjoyable to read. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone in my year because I think that the vast majority of people would really like it.
