Harry, Carnegie and Cake

Salt to the Sea

I really liked Salt to the Sea, I thought it was really well written, and I thought the plot was amazing. It was also very interesting how it was based on a real event during the Second World War. I really liked the four points of view and it worked really well as although they were all closely linked together, they had very different back stories which made it easier to identify who was talking in what chapter. Also, you heard from many different perspectives whereas usually you only hear from one point of view of the event. Overall, I think I would give it 7.5/10 as it was entertaining and gripping, but I didn't like Alfred's story compared to the rest (it was alright) and at points I flicked through his part because I didn't hugely like his character.
