Gail, John Mason School - Abingdon

The Bone Sparrow

This book is about a refugee camp in Australia and a boy who had lived there his whole life, and meets a girl from Outside. There is also a legend about Jimmie's (the girl's) necklace, the bone sparrow.
I thought that the plot was quite good, and it kept me quite interested until the end. However, I thought that the style of writing was quite confusing: the chapters in the point of view of the boy, Subhi, were in first person and were fine, but in Jimmie's perspective it was third person but present tense which I found quite hard to read.
Overall, I liked this book and I think people would enjoy it.
