Where the World Ends
'Where the World Ends' is an adventurous yet sad book by Geraldine McCaughrean. The main characters include: a group of young fowlers (boys sent by boat to an island to hunt birds for food), a snooty church gravedigger and two teachers. Interestingly, it is based on a true story set in St Kilda. The plot is very exciting; the group are meant to stay on the island for a few weeks. But once a few weeks have passed, they realise that nobody is coming back for them. For them, the only explanation would be the end of the world. It is a gritty survival story, written beautifully by the author.
