The Stars at Oktober Bend

Initially this book was a little frustrating because of the lack of capital letters, which I found a little off-putting, but you soon come to realise that it is how the author demonstrates Alice’s brain damage and once you get past that, you realise that she is making you almost pre-judge Alice the way others do; which only makes you understand more clearly how difficult she finds it to express herself to people other than her immediate family.

This book was poetic and heartfelt and deeply moving and I could not wait for the two characters to meet and fall in love, but the book keeps you guessing as to whether this can be a love that can actually work, because of the difficulties that both characters have to face. I would recommend this to readers that love a good romance, but also a meaty plot and a good cry!
