Miriam, Howell's School Llandaff
This book has been anything other than what I was expecting. Whilst the title suggests a werewolf or fantasy novel, the book itself is anything but. And it’s absolutely brilliant. It’s set in WW2 but is from the perspective of a twelve year old American girl who doesn’t truly understand why everyone can’t just get along. Some of the characters and attitudes towards them are characterised by the time period which is interesting to read about as I really enjoy history as a subject and am currently studying America throughout the 20th century.
The style of writing is brilliant and unlike anything I’ve ever read before, besides the fact that the story is obviously being told by the main character when in adulthood, multiple flashbacks are intertwined with the story so that it is sometimes difficult to tell what is a flashback and what isn’t.
