Sputnik's Guide to Life on Earth
Sputnik's guide to life on the earth by Frank Cottrell Boyce
This is a intriguing story that tells of a human world but with aliens. The story has lots of twist and turns at the start which made it interesting, but after a chapter it became boring because it was difficult to follow.
I quite liked the idea of when Sputnik/Mellows was found on the step of Prez's foster home. Everyone thought Sputnik was a dog only Prez saw that he was an alien. The most funny part was when Sputnik had a horse stable as a home, he had a dog bed, bowls of water and dog food and some toys.
I didn't like the part when Sputnik made a light sabre real and a little girl called Annabel, who was only five, nearly killed everyone but thanks to Prez he told the parents and they grabbed everyone and took them inside. (I can't tell you any more because I would give the story away). But it was boring because the story was all over the place, e.g. the story was on Prez, then it went to Annabel, then to Sputnik and finally friends and family.
I think it is aimed at 8+ readers but there are some scary parts in the story.
In the end I didn't really like it and would give it 4/10
