The Bone Sparrow
At first, I did not think I would like this book, as it depicts a serious topic I rarely read about: immigration and refugees.
However, I found its plot and concept to be touching and very interesting: two children, living in completely different circumstances, find that they both have a lot in common, such as their their vivid imaginations, bravery and love of stories.
Despite the touches of humor throughout the book, it is very sad and tragic, (it sometimes even left me in tears!) as it describes and illustrates the unthinkable conditions refugees live under. Even more so, as it is told from the eyes of a child who has known only this his entire life, and dreams of a better future in this life full of hardships and disillusion.
Overall, I absolutely loved this book and would truly recommend it to anyone.
