Salt to the Sea
I'm not really sure how to write this review. This book was beautiful and heartbreaking. It made me want to cry more than once, and for more than one reason. The characters were all easy to connect to and love (except Alfred), and the description of the sinking ship was possibly the most horrific thing I've ever read. This book is now my joint favourite, and the first one I would recommend to anyone else. the blend of romance, loss and suspense was so cleverly and seemingly effortlessly blended to create one of the best holocaust books in existence.
