Lucy, Diary of a Thorpe Kid

Town is by the Sea

This book is about a young boy who's family have always been miners. The author made it clear that the boy worried about his father a lot through the day. If I could ask the author a question, I would ask 'What is the boy's name?' The pictures showed the storyline of this book well. The darkness of the coal mines where the boy's father worked helped me to realise that it was a dark scary place. I liked how compact and friendly the town was. It reminded me of a trip to the coast. In my eyes, it was like a 1950's diary entry. I could describe the book in 3 words mining, sea and friendly. I thought this book was based on men. I would give this book a 8/10 rating.
