Lucy, St Helen and St Katharine
An exciting read, which will appeal to the child who never feels like the favourite. Fidge, an eleven year old girl in the story, is the responsible one. Fidge is the one who cleans up everyone's mess. Fidge is the second favourite. She is constantly looking after her little four year old sister Minnie. So she feels completely helpless when Minnie gets involved in a nasty car accident. Then Minnie almost died. And it's all her fault. She is forced to stay with her spoiled, cowardly cousin, Graham. An unexpected storm descends, sending both her and her cousin Graham into a strange alternate universe; one filled with creativity and magic, but trouble is brewing, and Fidge and Graham have to save this mystical land, not only from its evil dictator, but also to get back home. The narrative shifts between the characters throughout the book allows the reader to discover more about the main characters' personal traits. An amazing story, very creative, very imaginative and very well thought through. A gripping tale to keep the reader hooked all the way through.
