The Stars at Oktober Bend

The Stars at October Bend has got to be one of the best books I've ever read - it's quirky and original style combined with the amazing plot is so intriguing, I never wanted to put this book down. It made me feel tons of different emotions and at one point brought me to tears. Alice suffers from a brain injury forcing her brain to not develop from when she was twelve, it's also caused her a multitude of other problems such as her speech. The best thing about this book ,in my opinion, is the style it's written in - as it's from Alice's point of view mainly, the text is broken up and slightly confusing but not so much that don't get the point of it. In addition to this, Alice writes poems to get across what she can't say- and these beautiful-broken words are one of the reasons I love this book so much, they give so much more depth and meaning to the book. As the book goes on, Alice makes new friendships and breaks out of her comfort zone, it's a truly inspirational book that I would recommend to anyone.
